Hillcrest Student Represents Victoria
A local 12 year old girl has realised the dream of representing her state and performing on ‘the big stage’! Hillcrest Christian College student Luci Hendrickse will fly to Sydney and represent Victoria in Calisthenics this week.
Luci audition with over 100 girls, over a number of weeks, to be selected as part of the 2017 Victorian Juniors Calisthenics Team. The team will compete at the 2017 Australian Calisthenics Federation Nationals competition in Sydney.
Luci has been training every Sunday since December 2016 in Preparation for the Nationals. On top of this she has been training for her solo's and also with her local calisthenics club in Berwick!
Luci began calisthenics at the age of three after being encouraged to take up dancing by her mum including family friends. “Luci’s mum was a successful highland dancer and Luci is proving to be a natural dancer and athlete as well”, commented proud father Mr Rowan Hendrickse.
Recently Luci was also selected to represent Victoria as a soloist, which is a great honour for her and her coach Tamara Hughes. Having recently performed at the Palai in St Kilda in front of a packed theatre, for the Victorian State concert, Luci is looking forward to performing at NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts) in Sydney.
